Nareste Hotel and Marina

Client: Private Location: Adriatic Coast Project Status: Concept Design Area: 15,000 sqm Masterplan Architect: Leonard Design Architects Visuals: Marchenko & Novak

Fourfoursixsix were appointed to design a landmark hotel and yacht club as part of a wider masterplan prepared by Leonard Design Architects for a new resort on the Adriatic coast. The scheme will involve the repurposing of a large waterfront brownfield site to provide a new residential and leisure destination that will help generate jobs, income and additional housing for the local economy as well as improve the ecology and biodiversity of the coastline.

The design of the building responds to the local climate and historic architecture, with colonnades and courtyards creating shaded external areas that encourage natural ventilation throughout the building, whilst the rooms are arranged to take advantage of the views, with deep brise-soleil forming a key design feature to limit summer overheating.

The 145 key hotel will also include conference facilities, bar and restaurants, with a second floor podium providing an elevated pool. The yacht club is conceived as a sculpted pavilion to function as a community and leisure hub adjacent to the harbour, and provides additional restaurant and bar with a pool.
