Fourfoursixsix were invited to design a large-scale luxury residential building on an important site in Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
Local residential high-rise buildings often consist of duplicate stacked floorplate types with inelegant balcony spaces that fail to achieve a harmonious appearance. We felt these characteristics were contrary to the concepts of luxury and high-quality design that are at the forefront of the project.
Our scheme considers pure geometric elegance and luxurious minimalism as central design concepts, incorporating climatically comfortable living spaces that provide superlative views.
The proposed design reads as two elegant blocks that sit upon a shared podium, which maximises the façade area in comparison to a single central block. The increased façade area ensures the vast majority of units are dual aspect, allowing natural ventilation to aid with cooling, whilst the façade is designed with increased solidity and depth to the east and west to protect against the sun. Where connected, these forms create the various public and communal spaces in response to the programmatic requirements. Where separated, they provide distinct towers of private accommodation in which views, light and privacy are all maximised.
