Fourfoursixsix were appointed by Countryside Properties alongside Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios to develop schemes on a number of potential sites as part of their Brentwood Borough Council Strategic Partnership bid.

Our Maple Close scheme consists of a Community Centre and 10 two-storey semi-detached houses, as well as a pocket park, car and cycle parking. The scheme looks to regenerate a tight council owned site which is currently underutilised with a rundown Community Centre and garages. The site adjoins a large number of rear gardens, therefore adjoining owners’ privacy and sunlight / daylight amenity were considered carefully in the design.

The new 155 sqm Community Centre is repositioned to enhance its important and civic pride, opening out onto Maple Close to become a focal point for the wider community.

Our Westbury Road scheme consists of 39 dual aspect apartments, conceived as a modern mansion block. The scheme expresses the sloping topography in the massing, whilst retaining level access for all units.

The building footprint has been located towards the north of the site so that large trees to the southern boundary can be retained, minimising impact on the adjoining neighbours. The southern portion of the site has been left for vehicle parking and a woodland garden with a swale providing SuDS for the site.

“Countryside asked Fourfoursixsix to design schemes for four sites of varying sizes and densities, from town centre to more suburban locations. They were always proactive and at the end of the phone, and their quick turnaround time proved invaluable in what was an intense bidding process.”

“The bid included a series of dialogue sessions consisting our consultant team presenting to the Council on a bi-weekly basis. Daniel was always very well received by the Council’s team and conveyed Countryside’s principles of collaborative working to produce a high-quality product perfectly.”
