The Above and Beyond Phuket masterplan required a wide range of both resort facilities and residential units of varying scales (ranging between grand residences, villas, duplex apartments and a 135 key hotel), within the confines of a complex terrain.
The scheme design located a reception hub as the pivotal centre of the scheme. From here, the masterplan is divided into a range of different residential zones or ‘neighbourhoods’ that closely follow the contours of the site. All units have a natural orientation towards the sea view.
The upper ridge of the site is left untouched, allowing residents to walk through the jungle towards a large natural water pool. Directly below this ridge, following the fall of the valley, public facilities such as a library, restaurant and business centre are embedded into the landscape. These submerged elements join the main reception hub to create a public link between the upper level water pool and the hotel facility below.
